Located in the Western
Slope of Colorado,
61 mi (98 km) east of Durango,
Pagosa Springs is a vibrant community surrounded by the San
Juan National Forest. After a day of skiing at nearby Wolf
Creek Ski Resort or exploring the sights of the region, visitors can soak
in ancient American Indian mineral springs at the Springs
Resort Hot Springs Pools and the Spa
at Pagosa Springs. Archeology and history buffs appreciate the preserved
ancient Puebloan ruins at nearby Chimney
Rock Archaeological Area where ceremonial structures prevail and are still
used for special events. A destination point for adventure seekers, the town
also offers numerous recreational activities such as fishing along the San
Juan River, hiking, river rafting and mountain biking. A diverse selection
of galleries and artisan shops are found in Pagosa Springs, many which feature
Southwestern and Native American art. The downtown district boasts numerous
eating establishments, unique shopping experiences and a wide range of lodging
